Hi,

I'm an expat living in Prague. I just lost my job here and I'm wondering, does anybody out there have any suggestions of good language schools to get connected with?

Preferably one that provides good training?

Thanks

I see from your earlier posts that you have some kind of TEFL cert, but I guess you didn't get it in Prague. If it was online or a short course, you're at a disadvantage on this job market, where most teachers have a CELTA or equivalent......

Regardless of your quals, it's a tough time of year to be looking for work.
Your best bet might be Berlitz; they provide training in their methods and don't require certification. Downside is that working for Berlitz doesn't do much for your CV later on, but at this time of year it might really be one of the only options around.

good luck!

Thank you very much. I will look into that. Does it help much to go to these schools personally and introduce myself while providing a resume?

Going personally is the only way; it's very unlikely that any reputable schools are desperate enough to bite much on an email or letter at the moment. But the problem is really the time of year....as you know, most job contracts are Sept - June, so this is the tail end of the contract year, and it's likely to be tough to find any openings. You might get lucky, of course! But I think it's going to take some luck to find something just now....
