|
|
Does anyone know anything about SALT, which claims to be an English language training institution based in Riyadh? They have been advertising in Canadian newspapers for instructors, but I have never heard of them.
I am not talking about SALTS, which is a Raytheon language centre in Taif and Jeddah.
Thanks for any information you can divulge. |

Notice the difference in "base salaries"
Ad 1 - $30,000 - $38,000 US dollars
Ad 2 - $22,200 - $25,500 US dollars
and in " Working Hours"
Ad 1 - Duty hours 8 am to 5 pm (including six teaching hours), 5 days a week.
Ad 2 - Working Hours: 8 am to 5 pm, six days a week.
Hmmm - can't speak from personal experience, having never worked for them, but it sounds like one of the many privately-owned "language schools" in Riyadh. Be VERY wary, I'd say - and that goes triple now, given the current situation there.
Regards,
John |

Thanks John for your comments.
Even stranger is the fact that the Canadian ad also states that the salary range is $30000 - 38000, but that is in Canadian dollars, not American. In recent correspondence with them, they told me that the salary was US$2500 per month, which is closer to the Canadian than the American salary. In fact, they specifically said that they have not tried to recruit any Americans up to this time.
Yes, in light of recent events, this is a pretty unrealistic salary offer, and certainly not worth risking my life over. Others should also be wary at this time. Thanks again. |

For those people looking into the SALT job offer, here is their main website address:
www.saudi-academy.com
The full name is "Saudi Academy for Language and Training."
Hope this is helpful. |
