| Though at least one teacher was deeply offended. |

Dear Sasha,
"What about all those American colleagues of mine who state, forcefully, that there is no Present Perfect in American English?"
That's why we sent them to Russia. You think the Cold War is REALLY over, Comrade?
Regards,
John |

Dear Johnslat
Aha! Potential 'dirty bombs', eh?!
Well, they certainly do 'bomb' in class..., and some of them do tend to be rather a touch dirty. But even so, not the most effective strategy sending them here. We just pack them off East. Plenty of space in the Siberian mines - they are getting bigger all the time!!
Regards

I like the Chinese and Russian ladies much more. At least they're both somewhat creative with it - as D-M points out, they're competing with fluffy kittens and Psi for the video audience, and a little entertainment's probably appropriate for the medium. |
Here she is again - a teacher after my own heart. Hic!

So anyone brave enough to make their own video and post it? Perhaps your own take on a grammar point (Sasha / Fluffy, Id love to see your take on such things), or perhaps your own version of the 'interesting to look at' type instruction video?
Id even settle for a clip of you in class teaching.
As very much the 'junior' in terms of experience / qualifications / skills, I feel I've learnt lots from people on this forum and Id love to take that a step further and see you teach too. |

I'd guess that many of us will prefer to maintain a level of anonymity that posting a video of our teaching would violate.
For me, I picked up a stalker from Dave's long ago (no fault of the forum!) and have since been much more careful about the amount of personal info I'll post here. |

I believe you'd likely also need a signed permission release from any students in the video, at least in some countries.

| I opened the clip expecting a vodka drinking type video, but the Stalin speech was equally inspiring. Whilst I accept and understand the reasons for not posting something (and note I haven't offered to do so either ... yet!) it's a shame and to some degree I have to say hats off to the chap whose video on youtube started this thread. Despite any misgivings we may have, he is out there recording something, and posting it for (I presume) his students. |

It is true that the video maker has a lot of bottle - and that is a plus, I concede. Yet, I'd still prefer that he didn't waste everyone's time with his vids. They are quite, quite dire. And not even very accurate. So, some uncharitable types might say that he has a lot of nerve, more than anything else.
Here's a vodka clip

| I have to say, Id be mortified if I posted a video and it was slated on here ... I would love to make one, but Id also be terrified at the same time. I normally avoid youtube TBH, but after watching those 'lessons' I started clicking into random other things and spent about 30 minutes watching video blogs about teaching in China. Some of those were really really dire ... worse than our 'I have been to the Lincoln memorial' one. |

There are also issues of context, when proposing to make a video.
A lesson that is relevant to my students, and which makes sense to them (being who they are) and to me (in my specific teaching context) may seem utterly irrelevant to a more general audience.
Even though, of course, it's an utterly brilliant lesson in every respect in reality . |

| Ah, Spiral! So long as it is ideologically correct, with no deviations from the true path, then how could it not be relevant to all? |
