Hey guys,

So as it turns out, it is possible to get a residence permit based on a sole entrepreneurship business. Unfortunately, one also needs to prove that your business is beneficial to the national economy AND hire Polish citizens to work for you. Both of these things are apparently 100% necessary, so it appears as though my application will be denied.

So, my question is about extending the 90 day limit. I've read about short term visas available to extend your stay, but I'm having trouble finding details. It seems I would have to apply at a Polish consulate (in Berlin for example).

Has anyone done this?

Thanks guys.

this has been discussed 100 times on here, but i'll say it again, i had a karta pubytu with my freelance business alone. i didn't hire any Polish citizens, just handed out invoices to schools i worked for.

Dynow, did you get a residence permit completely based on running the business in Poland? I know it's different if you get the work permit first. If that's true, how did you convince them that your business was good for the Polish economy?

As mentioned, it was discussed before. Look under the starting a business comments no more than 20 posts back.

I apologize if I'm being thick about this, but I don't see anything addressing this question:

"how did you convince them that your business was good for the Polish economy?"

I think that I've done everything correctly and followed the information posted on the forum, but if you guys want people to stop asking then things like this should be directly addressed. Should I just assume that the lack of an answer on this topic means that I shouldn't worry about it?

I am down sick so I apologize if it sounds like you're being given short shrift on your question.

Your header question is re: extending your visa for 90 days.

I am told by my Immigration office that does not apply to American who make a border run. That is discussed in a dozen places or more.

You then bring up proving your business is "real" and a net contributor. That obviously takes time. When I ask about proving this the answer seems to be are you paying taxes? Have you got revenue? If not, how will you pay for things here?

Hope this helps..

More thera-flu time.

I remember you saying that the Poland is weird about the 90 days thing and border runs are still (presumably) possible, but that still leaves the schengen problem. I'm just trying to formulate a semblance of a backup plan so I don't have to pack up all my junk, my wife, and my two cats and move somewhere else.

Since it seems like it's not a problem to have Polish employees, I'll just get through the process and see what happens. Maybe I'll bring my inspektor some flowers...
