What a fiction! What a sensational underhanded competitive practice!

Who are you James and who is your "friend"?

If what you claimed in the message is true and your "friend" exists, why did not your "friend" stand out and speak?

Read what others say about this posting, guys.

Sorry to derail this thread a bit but I'm getting tired of seeing such ignorant responses.

Larsson, this is the 2nd time this week that you've insinuated someone is Chinese and meant it as an insult, and a quick glance through your posting history shows a pattern of gross generalizations and insults toward Chinese people.

You may not realize this, but some of us, quite a few of the regulars on here I would suspect, have Chinese wives/husbands and/or children.

I personally am married to a Chinese national and we have a daughter and whether or not it's intentional your essentially insulting every Chinese person, including my family, when you make dumb comments like the one above.

Also, using /sarcasm doesn't take anything away from what you said, it's like when someone starts a sentence with "I'm not a racist, but...." Rolling Eyes

I didn't read it as much of an insult, unless you take offense to him saying that the Chinese can't write in English fluently- I wouldn't expect them to obviously. It's certainly no different than Chinese singling out foreigners for anything on a daily basis. As for the thread, nobody knows what's true or not

If you don't find sweeping generalizations insulting then that's your business.

I do find it very telling when someone says something like that.

I was at a dinner with some other teachers a couple weeks ago and one of them actually said, without a trace of irony or wit "Chinese people make a lot of generalizations about foreigners."

Yeah, it goes both ways. So I have no problem with it. Perhaps you are a little sensitive. I'm pretty sure the way he intended it is a little different than the way you interpreted it. Distasteful all the same? Maybe.

Ahhh, so 2 wrongs do make a right, my bad Wink

All jokes aside if you actually knew me you'd realize I'm not sensitive in the slightest, just getting a little tired of sweeping generalizations.

If someone says something like "All American's are ignorant loudmouths"
would you not think to yourself "Man, this guy is an idiot."

And if that person kept going on an on (not joking mind you) about how Americans are dumb, lazy, dirty, politically corrupt, and how stupid it is how religious America is, how wasteful a people Americans are, saying sweeping generalizations like every American is a fat slob who is missing several teeth and sleeps with their cousin etc. etc. would you not eventually say, "Hey guy, my wife/husband is American and he/she is nothing like that. You're an idiot for saying that."

Maybe your the type who is fine listening to such nonsense and is able to keep calm and let it slide, good for you, but I'm not.

I understand what you're saying. When I hang out with foreigners from Europe..it's like that all the time...Usually doesn't bother me and I find it pretty humorous because I know they don't know what they are talking about.

I was with some Europeans a couple months ago and they were telling me that America is the most racist country in the world. I was like listen, first of all, that's just far from true and when you have a country as big as America, with a big population and with so much diversity, of course you are going to hear racism stories, as with anything else. Then I told them that we elected a black president. Their response...he's not really black...This came right off the heels of some fan throwing a banana peel at a black soccer player a couple months ago that we were watching. I told them, that would never, ever happen in America....What did they say? The fans are just trying to get inside the players head...Yeah NO SH"T, but it's still racism...Stupidest conversation I've ever had.

I just think that in this instance (ignoring all previous posts), the guy meant it as more of an....A HA! Got you! Now that I know you are Chinese, you are biased and cannot be taken seriously...kinda thing (ignoring all irony and hypocrisy for a moment). Although I could definitely be wrong and I could be wrong assuming that you interpreted it a different way...I don't know man, I'm just bored and have nothing to do.

As for the topic, I don't really believe it.

Edit: Actually, I'll take it back and agree with you. I think I was wrong. That seems rude to me now all of a sudden. Not sure why it didn't at first.

The Kong, do you think that Righteous is a Chinese or not?

And I'm not entitled to my opinion that a Chinese would come onto teaching boards, and make his first post defending a school. It's not like Chinese are not known to lie, pay people to post on their behalf etc.

Back on topic I agree, something seems a bit off about the original post.

If the good friend was so screwed over why wouldn't he be the one writing it? Seems a bit like someone had a bad experience working there and made up a little story to make them seem worse than they are.
