Yes, I mean visas. I'm sorry but I don't understand your quote John and how it relates to my question. I do realize that it is illegal to work on a business visa and yes I am aware that some employers send you to another country to renew the business visa while others find a way for you to stay in country while renewing your visa. But my main question relates to someone referring to the 'washing of your passport' which I believe simply means get a new passport in your home country before either 1) getting your permanent visa prior to arrival and iguama or 2) business visa before flight.
I am only asking if the recently installed fingerprint 'machines' make 'washing your passport' useless as I thought one of the purposes of the fingerprint scanning was to combat teachers from simply getting a new passport to overcome not having a NOC.
And my other question is related to ICEAT and the latest on the litigation that the OP mentioned and this specific teacher who was supposedly blacklisted because she was in Saudi working on a business visa. |

And I can only conclude that there are still many teachers working on business visas? Has anyone else experienced problems getting a business visa renewed. I know it differs from one employer to another but do employers generally pay for your flight and hotel if you have to leave the country to renew? In addition, there are some employers who (whether legally or not) find a way to renew passports without the teacher having to leave. What about ICEAT? Do they still require a teacher to physically leave and who pays for the hotel and flight?

There were teachers hired at the beginning of the academic year who were given work visit visas. All work-visit visas are renewed internally.
However, as of October, ICEAT has stopped giving employees work visit visas. They will only give employment visas/iqamas. It is now impossible to work for ICEAT with anything but an employment visa. Hope this helps. |

Dear laylow,
laylow: "In addition, there are some employers who (whether legally or not) find a way to renew passports without the teacher having to leave. What about ICEAT? Do they still require a teacher to physically leave and who pays for the hotel and flight?"
johnslat: "I think you mean visas, not passports, don't you?"
laylow: "Yes, I mean visas. I'm sorry but I don't understand your quote John and how it relates to my question."
Umm, you really don't see how your writing "passport" when you actually meant "visa" would relate to your question? Maybe it relates since readers could completely misunderstand your post because you used the wrong word.
Regards,
John |

| Thank you teachr 11. If anyone can tell me how it is still possible to 'lose' your passport to avoid the need of a No Objection Letter after Saudi has started utilizing fingerprint scanners, I am eager to know. |

I'm not really a psychic, but based on the type of questions you are asking, I foresee serious problems in your future. |

| The Min Of Int in Riyadh has probably already identified this potential malefactor through his ISP and opened a file on him. |

I'm a bit confused by this as my husband has said that ICEAT announced that they will NOT be giving out iqamas/employment visas at all this year. It is a bit gutting 'cause hubby got his after 9 months of working with ICEAT. And now with the new dudes (who came in August 2012) they're not allowed the iqamas/employment visas. One woman I know is waiting to join her husband... and now she can't... at all in this contract year. Sigh. |

Huh? They can't get his ISP from a message here. Dave could give it to them, but he wouldn't do that, would he? |

Knowing Scot... he was being facetious...
No they couldn't get it from here. Could you imagine all the ministries of the world and shady employers emailing Dave?

Forgive me for not knowing what the No Objection letter is... I know that US government offers a second passport for people who wanna travel to Israel. Would getting a second passport help with your situation? Something to consider... |

Hello everyone.
I have been gone from this forum for a while, but I'm back now. Read some of the threads concerning business visas. All I can say is they are being weened off this style of entry and gradually turning towards obtaining work visas that change into iqamahs here in Saudi. The Min. of Int. has started a crackdown as you may have well heard and this was meant mostly for the illegal aliens that were here on bought visas that have been sold on the black market. The individual pays some ridiculous amount and then spends the rest of his/her time here working at jobs that are not identified on the visa to make up the money he/she has invested. This was an embarrassment for the Min. and they said that they should have been more attentive when issuing visas to companies that were just on paper only. So in a way they created the problem.
May I suggest that you get a proper work visa before entering Saudi Arabia and avoid all this headache and over the shoulder looking.

| I was assured by a colleague that when they take your fingerprints they also make an implant of a miniature device that allows them to track you wherever you go. My informant is still working in KSA, pursued by his psychotic and paranoid thoughts. Probably no one will notice that he is insane until he leaves KSA. |
