I'm looking for a summer English camp job to tie me over between my current job and another in September. I could fly almost anywhere, as long as the job pays reliably and provides enough to fly on to China (if it is not in China) by September (preferably with some savings).

I have been teaching small elementary classes for a year with a co-teacher. I do not have a certificate; I have master's degrees in social sci. I have graded undergraduate essays and worked in university research support for several years, so I can show my language is up to par for adults, also. I have a few years of varied office experience, for places that are counting up total years of employment.

I'd like something in July and/or August, with the curriculum prepared by the school. I'm not too picky about the level of students for the summer. (If they are elementary, then I'd expect a co-teacher.)

Location-wise: This is pretty wide open! I could fly almost anywhere for the summer, but Asia is my general area of preference. I have some experience living in China, Taiwan, and Japan. I'm a US citizen, so Europe is difficult. Latin America is probably too far to fly on my allowance. I think Taiwan or China might be the easiest places for my level of teaching experience, but I am really open to suggestions.

I have been asking about various summer jobs in China, but they all seem to expect either work on a tourist visa or another employer to cover a work visa. I need to find something legitimate soon.

Appreciate any ideas!

If you are sitting in the States and hoping for a job in Asia to jump through the hoops to get you a work visa for a summer camp job then you are truly dreaming.

Outside of China your timetable doesn't work well since the academic year in most countries in Asia starts in (your) spring (March to June) and the mid year breaks occur later (Aug-Oct).

I wish you luck.

I suggest looking into Korea. Easy to come in as a US citizen. You'll need an Apostilled CBC and to get a job. However, there might be other ways around that as you would only be coming in to teach a camp (1-3 months).

Location and pay would be the biggest perks for you.

Hi Surendra,

Thanks for your reply.

Would you happen to know anything more specific for "ways around" the paperwork requirements?

Do you think there would be any legal ways, or more likely the China-style, "Just show up on a tourist visa, it'll be alright"?

I'm on a semi-volunteer position in Georgia (the country - not the US state), and mailing things back and forth with US agencies looks exorbitantly expensive and a little dicey to me.

For specifics on teaching in SK, you'll need to head over to the Korea job forum (http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/). Separate registration is required to post.

Well if it's okay to ask the question here but not to hear the answer here... (That seems inconvenient, btw.) Then perhaps Surendra could just PM me. Every job ad I can recall seeing for Korea (summer camps included) has required the background check, but I'd be interested if there was an exception somewhere.

Considering I really could fly to so many places, it seemed like a bit of a distraction to be posting the same exact info shotgun, on so many different boards.
