Hello. Does anyone know what exactly is going on? All the Friskies, Kit-e-Kat, Whiskas etc... has disappeared. The dog food is running out too.
A friend in Jubail told me there's nothing about there and I went to 6 supermarkets yesterday. In a hyper-Panda I found some turtle pellets left. |

Have you asked the store managers about when they expect to get these items in, if at all? Anyway, you could also ask see if anyone else in Jubail's expat community has info. Do an Internet search on expat jubail forum for general expat sites. |

the supply chain often breaks down. Not just for pet food but for other imported items. Weetabix was a perferctr example in my time there.
Nothing sinister I am sure. |

Probably because all the nutjobs are saving hard for the summer and have bought it to use in their sandwiches. |

Tamimi Supermarket tends to stock the most variety of cat food (dry and wet-canned). Yes, last week the cat food seemed to be scarce in Riyadh as well, but noticed this week the shelves are now restocked...in Riyadh at least. Maybe they will eventually get to your neighborhood? |

My housing manager mentioned that deliveries have been spotty lately because of the Jawasat's nationwide crackdown on illegal and expired iqamas. Many expat workers---drivers, maids, food workers, etc.---have been affected. She said goods will eventually arrive---they're just delayed by days up to about a week. In fact, our drinking water delivery guy was a couple of days late. |

Well, according to Euromonitor International report on petfood in the Magc Kingdom, the market remains weak due to lack of interest and awarness from the local population and a subsequent lack of activity from petfood manufacturers.
This is why dog food is running out in the market, and the manufacturers are investing less in other petfood as well.

It seems the only successul and very cheap animal food market in the Magic Kingdom is that for camels, anything else forget about it!
Poor dogs and cats in the Magic Kingdom, their rights are not protected! |

Why do you think your statement is so funny? I think what you said is very true, but far from being funny or something to laugh about. Animals should not be treated so poorly. Humans are suposed to be the intelligent species on the planet, instead so many are cruel thoughtless and ignorant. Just so sad and disturbing that people make jokes about the suffering of animals. You can generally tell a person's character by the way they treat animals. Humans are supose to be the caretakers of the animals; however, most often they do a lousy job caring for them.
sheesh...Wrong choice of smiley perhaps

Zara461:
Actually, the report refers to other pet food products specific to other pets such as fish, birds, small mammals and reptiles.
Country Report: Other Pet Food in Saudi Arabia
Jan 2013
"Other pet food in Saudi Arabia remains a weak category due to lack of interest from the local population and a subsequent lack of activity from manufacturers... The general public in Saudi Arabia still lacks awareness about how to care for these pets, thus resulting in manufacturers investing less in their food. Product coverage: Bird Food, Fish Food, Small Mammal/Reptile Food." (Source: http://www.euromonitor.com/other-pet-food-in-saudi-arabia/report ) |

If you go to the "profile" button, the section for adding an avatar is at the bottom of that page. A certain number of posts is required, so if it isn't there... it is because you don't have enough posts yet. I can't recall the exact number, but the number 100 comes to mind.
