Thanks for all the advice guys! I've read way too many visa horror stories on here, and will make sure visa issues are non-existent with whatever employers I interview with. Both my wife and I have Canadian passports, and she has been here (Canada) since she was 9 or 10 years old, while I have lived here since 2 years old.

Also, the experience was gained while in university (both of us). I will do some research on cities in western China. I didn't know there were a lot of Muslim communities in China, so hopefully I can seek employment in those areas (we are both Muslim).

Thanks again everyone! I'll try and update this thread when I can so hopefully in the future anyone else with the same or similar situations can benefit.

There is a point being made by Hilena_.
Given the unrest in Urumqi in recent times the PSB may look askance at foreign Muslims wanting to move in BECAUSE it is a Muslim area.
