Hello every one, I'm currently living in Jinan and have the desire to relocate. This city is kinda dirty and pollution as well as my current accommodations are an issue for me. I'm originally from a smaller town and like clean air and sunshine, so when I was offered a move to Nantong I perked up.
Now I know it's gotta be hot, and although I am a northerner I think I can deal with it. I just was hoping some one who has lived or traveled in Nantong can give some advice or an opinion of the city and what the quality of life is there. I have a good paying job, and I think my apartment will be quite nice, but I have NO idea about the city aside from it's on the river, near the coast, and only a short way north of Shanghai. Can anyone give me some personal insight to what it's like living in this particular city? |

Its all relative isn't it. Its not the worst place around. Not mega large.
Personally didn't particularly enjoy it that much, found it a bit boring. Off the main train line , so travel is by bus, which is not too difficult. Its a bit nondescript really. Its not anything like being in Beijing or Shanghai (obviously) but then it doesn't have the appeal of a small city. A large port on the Yangtze with many foreign workers in the shipyards. Didn't find it overly friendly. Per capita it must have the most Japanese restaurants and bars of anywhere in China.
Having said all that, I met people who had been there for a number of years and liked it. |
