I have a bachelor of teaching and experience teaching 5 - 10 year olds. I do not have a TESOL qualification. I am 51 years old (but am often told that I look much younger) and it seems that the few short term teaching jobs I have found advertised have had an age restriction of around 40.
So what would be my best bet for a contract for around 4 months?
Any suggestions please?

I don't know if any of the institutes would hire you the proper way with the KITAS permit, which they'd probably have to pay for for a whole year, if you were just going to stay for 4 months. They might set you up with a 2 or 3 month business visit visa, which isn't technically the right visa, with a trip to Singapore in the middle. I don't know how long the visa would last. I'm thinking of one of those English institutes they have around town that pay downwards of $1200 a month. They might not care about age.

If you are a certified teacher, you might be able to get a better long term deal at one of the international schools or national plus schools. About 10 years ago, I got a job paying around $20k and they paid for rent on a house and most utilities paid for in a nice neighborhood. It was a decent sized house, too, with granite floors and a neighborhood swimming pool. I had my wife, my kids, a maid, my sister-in-law, and for a while my niece staying there. There was also some local medical care provided. That's cheap, though.
