They did some interviews a few days ago in Saigon, but I don't know how long the interviews will be on-going or even if they have finished. |

Have one scheduled for this Thursday. Have to reschedule it though... Here's hoping they don't decide I'm more trouble than I'm worth. |

I wouldn't worry about it mate. I had to reschedule my interview. I had already booked and paid for flights and hotels for a few days break in Hoi An before I got the invitation for an interview which, of course, was penciled in for during my break. I explained what happened and they were cool about it. Having said that, I wouldn't reschedule twice though . Good luck for Thursday! |

Can anyone give the standard package at RMIT including salary, hours, benefits and holidays?
Looks to me like there are chances to move up. |

English instructors get just over $3,000 gross per month while educators get around $4,000. There is not much difference between the two in regards to the work, but educators usually have a fair bit more experience and better qualifications. You are expected to be on campus for 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday, which includes 20 teaching hours. Excellent medical insurance is part of the package, twelve paid sick days annually, paid public holidays and you get four weeks paid holiday per year. |

I noticed they are no longer accepting applications on RMIT's website.
Was this round of interviews just for the July start date or for both July and September? |

Just had my interview yesterday. They seemed surprised that I couldn't start until September, which I in turn found surprising. I've never worked at an English department that operates completely outside of the academic calendar of the university.
Anyways, they told me that it was okay that I couldn't start until September - they just needed to know that.
So, the short answer is that this round of interviews seemed to be for both start dates. |

This has to do with the English language program being a pre-requisite option for admission to the university proper. Students who for whatever reason don't have (or can't get) a qualifying IELTS score can take RMIT's pre-admission English language program instead. It runs on a schedule that is quite continuous and is distinct from the degree-granting branch of the university. So in fact, you're not working for the "English department" of the university, really, at least not in the same way as a professor at RMIT might work for the Agricultural Sciences department. You're working for a special program that is another door into the university. The students, technically, are not even RMIT students yet in most cases.
I believe RIMT does not even offer any degrees in English and its properly admitted degree-track students are expected to already have English sufficient for their course of study (proven, again, by IELTS or completion of the English language program).
I don't work there but know a few who do-- this is info gleaned from them and past posts on this site. If I'm wrong (RMIT teachers and scene gurus) by all means set me straight

toiyeuthitmeo is right that the main program at RMIT is a pre-sessional program and so is not tied to the academic calendar of the degree programs. There is another smaller program which is done concurrently with academic courses. In any case, RMIT has trimesters, not semesters, so the academic calendar is different anyway. |

Hey there,we just finished submitting our application packages for the latest job offer posting. Can anyone share how long they waited to hear back from them, and what the interview process was like? We arrive in HCMC next Sunday, and the hunt begins! |

Hi Demonietto,
I don't really want to get into describing what the interview was like and my memory is a little bit hazy, but, in my case, I think I heard back about a month after initially submitting my application and they were scheduling the interviews about a week after contacting me. Good luck! |
