Dear Wilsonthefarmer,
"BTW, do these club members still exist in the Magic Kingdom?"
Goodness, these club members exist everywhere, not just in Saudi. I'm surprised that you haven't encountered one yet.
Regards,

What's with the 'Bangledashi cleaners' jibe...
I've noticed a lot of these kinds of comments, not just from you, but from others as well, even with reference to teachersl?
What's that about? |

Dear CANDLES,
Are you in Saudi? If so, have you ever noticed how many Saudis treat those who are sometimes called "third-world" nationals, regardless of the fact that most of them are "fellow Muslims?"

| Yes 500 Club. The Club ne er has existed but is used as a way of poking fun at misers. No shortahe of them - the ones who steal toilet paper ratrher than buy it, and eat with the Bangladeshi cleaners rtaher than spend money for lunch. |

I didn't get the sense Scot47 was knocking Bangladeshi cleaners. Instead, he was pointing out uber-cheapo teachers who get paid way more than nationals from developing countries yet, are such tightwads that they'd happily accept a meal offered by those less financially fortunate than themselves just because it's "free." |

It was just an observation-nothing drastic!
As for Saudis looking down on Asians (sub-continent), & on the Far Eastern people- What do the Saudis know- ignorant bunch!
And yes I'm in Riyadh and I see how Saudis treat people. |

Karl Marx had it right and it really does apply here. 'Religion is the opiate of the masses' or at least the Saudi culture. When you really scrutinize their practices it should be obvious. But from a general view it is deceiving. The Kaaba in Mecca is just another monolith that they are worshiping. Something ironic here when the whole idea of the Prophet Mohammed was to get the people away from multiple idol worship and to worship the one God.

ps. have been to the Kaaba and didn't get any special spiritual lift from it. I couldn't even bring myself to touch it. Idolatry was instilled in me early in my faith and as a matter of fact I was kind of repulsed by it.
pps. one more post and it will be number six hundred and sixty-six |
