Who has heard of the Saudi man who brought 2 pressure cookers in his checked baggage (en route to visiting his nephew in the US)?

http://news.yahoo.com/lawyer-mans-pressure-cooker-food-not-bombs-194558291.html

My questions:
1. Do Saudi people frequently bring pressure cookers with them on airplanes (as the man's lawyear claims)?

2. Are the pressure cookers sold in KSA really better than those sold in the US (as the man's lawyear claims)?

Only the Americans would arrest someone for carrying an empty cooking pot in their checked luggage.

And I can understand the Saudi man's nephew wanting to import one and his worry about low quality of pots in America since we know that American pots blow up.

"Terrorist" .... the boogy-man is coming....

As the sheep get lead down the garden path ... perhaps exploding bubble gum is next on the list ...

What? The US airport security cannot differentiate between a bomb and a pressure cooker????
It looks like they are complaining from a cooker-phobia syndrome! Laughing

Odd combination: Saudi + pressure cooker = Kabsa!

The Saudi people are known to take pressure cookers wherever they travel by road, sea, or air.
They use pressure cookers to cook their popular national dish, called Kabsa with camel meat. (what a delicious dish!)

Yes. The pressure cookers in the Magic Kingdom are made special for Kabsa, and some of them are made from stainless steel and imported from Egypt or Pakistan.

So...it sounds like US pressure cookers are OK for the food commonly cooked in the US. For those people who want kappa, do KSA pressure cookers (made in Egypt or Pakistan)?

But, kapsa is such an unhealthy and oily food.

Well, I think Kapsa is much healthier food compared to American sausages and bologna which are linked to some cancers and heart diseases.

This is so true. A lot of food people eat in the US is terribly unhealthy (sausages, bologna, french fries, burgers). It's better to stop eating all unhealthy food. Start eating veggies and low-fat/sodium food. But tell that to parents who take their kids to the mall and eat out in the food court.
Nasty!

My parents used to bring their own food to eat in the food court.
