I have been to Sihanoukville before and loved it. But was on holiday then. Any chance of paid work there do you think? |

The pickings will be exceedingly slim and you almost certainly won't be able to make enough to live. There are a couple of 'universities' and 2 or 3 language schools:

Last I heard, the going rate for run-of-the-mill TEFL was about $5 an hour - if you can find any. If you don't mind kids, Newton Thilay might be your best bet. Be aware that the Kleptocracy which runs Sihanoukville requires that foreigners have work permits - a rule which is generally not enforced elsewhere in the Kingdom. Not really a big deal as it is simply a question of paying $100 a year - but you need to factor it into your visa costs.
Almost all of the paid teaching work in Cambodia is in Phnom Penh. In Sihanoukville you'd probably do better looking for bar work. That might actually provide you with basic accommodation and food; though only in the high season. |
