|

Hi all,
I will be moving to Istanbul (Ortakoy) in August and am currently looking for a teaching position. Can anyone give me any pointers as to the best place to start looking?
I have a degree, TEFL cert, 2.5 years experience at Elementary and Middle School level in a Korean public school, and I am a native speaker. My degree is in an unrelated field.
What websites should I be searching for ESL positions?
What wage can I reasonably expect (my accommodation is already arranged)?
Realistically, what chance do I have of finding a position in Ortakoy, or nearby there?
Can I go on a tourist visa and find a position when I get there or am I better off securing a position now?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

pfb,
Ortakoy is one of the nicest, most centrally situated areas on the European side of Istanbul.
You could check out daily job postings on www.tefl.com but meanwhile, prepare your CV and send it off to the following which are based in Ortakoy :
Galatasaray University www.gsu.edu.tr
TAA Language School of Istanbul www.taa-istanbul.com
MEF International School www.international.mef.k12.tr
It is not clear what your specific qualifications are, nor which age group you would like to teach, so it is difficult to quote a salary. Have a good look at other posts on the Turkey forum, who are currently there (I'm not),to get an idea.
Good luck ! |
