There seems to be little information about Hungary at present...

Is there still a demand for teachers?...

And what kind of salary should a a degree holding, CELTA Qualified teacher with 1 years experience expect?...

If looking for a job in September or October when is the best time to start applying?...

Between 600 euros - 800 euros a month depending on how many lessons you take up, may take a month or so to build up to this though. September is the best time to start to looking as there is nothing in August.

This is in Budapest, I have no idea about the other cities as I imagine the demand is less, but you can get some work at a public school as a native speaker, I have seen adverts mainly in Szeged.

You'll have to be in the country to pick up the work as well.

Also an EU passport.

Thanks for the reply...is it possible to live there on 600 Euros a month or do teachers often end up dipping into savings?...

I'm not fussed about not saving money but don't exactly want to be hand to mouth...

600 euros a month is more than what the average Hungarian would earn so yeah you should be okay. 600 is more to the low end though of the wage scale. Hungary is a bit more expensive than other countries in the region I would say though for things like food, alcohol, rent and clothes.
