I really don't know how teachers tolerate that! It would drive me crazy! I'll have to go looking for a thread with some ideas on how to nip that in the bud from the very beginning, because if I've put the work in for the students then they've got to make some effort themselves!

Anyway, getting back to the topic, are there particular universities or kinds of universities (other than the ones mentioned) that appreciate people with PhDs? I'd need to earn more than 2000 RMB, because that figure would really undermine my self-esteem, not to mention my bank balance. Yes, I'd appreciate having time to study and working at a 'prestigious' university, but I don't want to feel that someone is doing me a favour by employing me!

Thanks. Sounds easy too.

I used clock oscillator for 45MHz as the noise generator for this jammer. It drives the local oscillator port which is located at the mixer. The signal is going out from the local oscillator and passes through the impedance matching network along its way. This helps equate the impedance of 45MHz clock oscillator with the impedance of the mixer's port.

Why bother building? Just order it from HK.

I was all set to buy one of these but the store is sold out. I'm going to get one of these no matter what it takes and that includes building one - totally fed up with cell phone use in the classroom. I noticed the device runs at 5-60 Hz. Is that OK for China?

Just wait until your bosses find out that you are the one jamming the signal for many people, not just your class of students.

You know, the signal is always fine when that foreign teacher isn't around.

Prepare ahead if you don't want to be in quite a bit of trouble.

There is a point here.

The range of the device may cause more issues than it solves.

Honestly I don't think anyone would ever clue in on what the problem is.

I already gave my boss a heads-up on this and she said fine. Look at the range - 3 to 15 meters. I'm the only one on my entire floor and all neighboring buildings are outside that range. Also, do you really think a teacher in a classroom above or below me is going to complain?

I'll take my chances on this any day of the week if it means getting cell phones out of the classroom.

Ooh, yeah! All right!
We're jammin':
I wanna jam that phone for you.
We're jammin', jammin',
And I hope you like jammin', too.
We're jammin',
And I hope this jammin's gonna last.

Very interested to see how this turns out.

Out of interest, what sort of place do you teach?

Also, I don't think it will stop students using their phones, just receiving text messages/making phone calls/internet. They will still be able to play games on them, I think.

The text messages, phone calls, and qq messages are a big part of the problem. I couldn't care less if they bury their heads in their desks and play games, those don't cause as much noise and distraction outside the immediate dead space inhabited by that particular student. Some games can still be jammed - online games they with their friends, often the person sitting right beside them.
