Summer is looming and thats our busiest time ... I think they are actively seeking people for that period, but I dont know about later in the year. You can contact them and see what they say.

This place isnt without its drawbacks ... but its a very very good fit for me, my goals, preferences and skill set.

Like DirtGuy, I was in Henan province...small town .Xuchang...people were very nice...not tons to do, but walking, biking, etc were wonderful. Good, little downtown area... Close to Zhengzhou for trains ...Was wonderful year in my life....If Xuchang U. has an opening, reasonable people to work for & nice campus. ...Miss it now that back in States working.

Haha whoa, if we are playing hook-up here, can you guys help me out too? I'll be free in the fall as well. You guys make the smaller cities sound awesome. I lived in Harbin and it was a fun place to be, but the weather was unbearable.

I lived for few months in Kaifeng, where my parents teach at a school there. I loved the history and the hometown feel to the city. It is large enough that it has fast food, retailers and big box stores. But it is not so big that you are lost in a sea of people, like in Beijing. Kaifeng is full of laobaixing, which is good or bad depending on your perspective. Personally, I loved the people and their old China charm.

On the downside, Kaifeng is a very dirty city. Other than the obvious air pollution, there is seemingly trash and construction debris everywhere. There are very few people who speak fluent English, even at the universities. I would not recommend Kaifeng, or Henan Province for that matter, to a prospective teacher who is new to China. It is a fascinating place but it can be daunting to the uninitiated.

I am in a small city out in the sticks and I am out of here as soon as my contract is up. Unless you want to teach kids, there simply isn't enough side work in a small place. I have a 2nd job at a language school and, while I really like working for them, there just isn't enough work for my liking. Getting 10 hours a week is really hard to do yet this should be easy in a 1st or 2nd tier city. To the big city, Tianjin is my target, I go.
