Hi Everyone,

From what I have read here, signing the contract is often done in China.

For schools, training centers, etc. in China (maybe all countries), should one receive an English copy of the FINAL contract agreement and appendix, completely filled out BEFORE going to China?

Thank you.

Most definitely. In addition, you will usually sign the contract and send it back (electronically, of course) before you get the invitation letter. When you arrive, you will sign a hard copy.

My situation:
(all below were two copies, one Chinese, one English)

- clear copy of contract emailed to me
- slightly fuzzy signed contract scanned and mailed to me (dirty scanner glass I think)
- I printed the scanned one, signed it, scanned it again and emailed it back
- on arrival I signed a hard copy which had both Ch and Eng in a stapled booklet, signed and chopped.

My experience has always been like described by johntpartee and Mr. Leafy. Yes, they should send you the final edition (subject to your review and changes) and the version that you agreed to should be the one in the office where you and the boss sign two copies each of Chinese and English. All copies should have the same serial number. Bring the copy you were emailed/mailed so that you can compare to the new one more quickly and without reverting to memory, and don't be rushed to sign until you are satisfied it is the contract and terms that you agreed to.
