All the contractors mentioned here have some negativity in them,
irrespective of coming through an agency or 'direct hire'.

Unfortunately coming over to KSA and staying on is a drama in itself. For some teachers, it's a great experience, for others a nightmare.
Whether you think once or 3 times about the job or the country, in the end it depends on how one adjusts to the situation.

Now that I'm at the end, I can honestly say it's been far more bad than good. But that's working for a very lousy outfit like EdEx. Not only do they have absolutely no regard for their employees, there is no communication, and the knife goes in the back at the slightest provocation. Even getting the smallest thing done with them is like pulling teeth!

One of the worst employers in the ME, not to mention the complete train wreck and joke that is PYP!

Thank you for all your posts. It has really been helpful to me as I try to get the best contract I can for the coming 2013/2014 school year. I have received job offers from EdEx, QEHC and SBC, all of which were unacceptable. After working at KSU for ICEAT in 2011/2012 I know that by mid to late July they will all be scrambling to make their quotas lest they be penalized for late arrivals during the school year. That's the time to name your minimum salary and bargain for benefits. I hope I have better offers by then but right now they're not replying to my counter-offers.

Also, the vocational institutes are offering better salaries. I am working with contractors like M2R and TLTP to recommend recruiting companies and various positions throughout KSA. So far I have heard that AETG is the best but their salaries are low.

On a side note, I was very happy in Saudi when I worked there and thought working at KSU was great. That's why I want to return this year. My recruiter was crap at that time but I've been told that they are much better this year (ICEAT). If you are one who can adjust to the culture, Saudi is a great place to meet some really wonderful teachers and make tons of tax free money. Very Happy

Check Teachaway for Princess Noura U and other KSA jobs. They're one of the better recruiters.

If you are recruited by Teachaway you will be direct hire and your salary will not differ from those with equal experience and credentials.
