This article appeared in today's Saudi Gazette:

"Grace period to be extended

Last updated: Tuesday, July 02, 2013 9:54 AM

JEDDAH — Sources to the Labor Ministry told Okaz yesterday about the decision to rectify the status to be extended to 1 Muharram 1435 H (November 2013).

The decision to extend will allow many foreign expats to complete their undocumented work, looking at the seriousness of companies and workers..."

Good news for Sadiks (as called by the Saudis!).

I am sure the illegal Sadiks will thank King Abdullah, and will say:
"Alhamdulillah, and thank you King Abdullah for your generosity, greatness, and forgiveness for the poor people... God bless you".

But, in the other hand, the problem of illegal workers/immigrants in the Magic Kingdom is caused by the corrupted 'kafala' system, where the Kafeel brings workers in the Magic Kingdom and then hire them illegally to other employers - kind of black market for human traficking.
I think if they want to solve the problem, the Magic Kingdom should abolish the 'kafala' system, and replace it with a labour law where the government should be the sponsor.
