Can anyone tell me anything about these places? Me and my partner have been offered our first teaching jobs in these cities and are trawling through the web to see if they're suitable for our needs.
We're after a deep end head first into teaching and living abroad for one year and wondering if there's enough in these places to satisfy us. We're not party animals but like to socialise.
Anyone with any advice at all would be very helpful. |

I don't know anything about Changzhou and in terms of Fuzhou I just arrived here two days ago.
I was so cut-off where I used to live in China that I was thrilled to see the McDonald's in the Fuzhou airport. |

I pass through Changzhou sometimes...never really explored too much, but it seems nice enough. Another one of these *almost* satellite cities of Shanghai that have really cleaned up their act appearance wise and modernized a lot over the past 5 years or so.
Good location too....you're on the high speed rail line, therefore can be in Shangers in around an hour, Nanjing or Suzhou in 30 mins or so. |

Ok. Can I ask how it compares, so far, to other 2nd tier cities? Who are you teaching for, if you don't mind me asking? |

Not sure how it compares with other cities. I haven't really been to other places my first year here besides to Zhengzhou a couple of times and Luoyang only once.
I'm teaching at the Women's College. |

Looks like I am heading to Fuzhou in August too. Seems kind of bland, but a city is what you make of it I suppose. |

I have been in Fuzhou for over a year now.
It is a great place to live! It is a clean city with many friendly people. However it can get very hot here in July and August( up to 40c!)
I love it here so I have decided to continue my contract with my employer for a second year. |

What's the best way to get to a great beach near Fuzhou?
I hope it isn't very far way. |

There is a nearby town called Changle, it is where the airport is. Xiamen, only a two hour train ride though is the best option, a real seaside town feel. |

Is the beach nice in Changle? Swimmable? Clean? etc? |

Sorry for the long delay in my reply.
Xiamen is much better if you want a clean swimmable beach. All the people from Fuzhou regularly take trips there and prefer it to Changle. |
