Long time no see Turkey forum Wink

I am currently teaching kindergarten in Southern Thailand, where the weather is perfect, the beaches are close, the paycheck pays for some things, and the people are always smiling. It would be extremely awesome except for the horrible fact that I am in love.

My boyfriend is French, no college degree but has experience teaching private lessons. His English is good, probably advanced, or almost fluent (some small grammar problems, a vocab word per week etc). He is going back to France this week and will take a TEFL course so we are better prepared next time (we met in Thailand, he can't work here because no degree and no need for French teachers, so now what?)

I worked in Istanbul in 2009-2010 and loved my job, I worked at a language school in Bakirkoy. Though if I moved back I'd prefer to not live in Bakirkoy, I have some friends who either have schools with French programs or know others who do. So I know that some Turks are learning French, which is better than the current situation.

However, I also heard that three-month visa runs are a thing of the past. True? What are the requirements for a work visa? Do you need a college degree?

We would probably be looking at an October arrival, so hopfully some peace has been found on the streets by then...if not October, then probably in March, though obviously October is a much better time to find jobs!

Any help you have would be great!

Hi
Why not try the mymerhaba forums? I remember seeing French classes being advertised, so maybe you will get some info.
Are there no expat sites for French speakers in Turkey?
