Again, thanks for the information and replies.
As of this moment we have decided on universities around major cities on the main land. We found a few visa services that aren't too expensive so it appears we may not have to leave Costa Rica to obtain our Z's.
Does anyone reading this work at a university that has a couple openings. Feel free to contact me asap. |

With your advanced degrees you should be looking at International schools. Most of them do their hiring in February. Also most of the time you need to do your Visa work from China in your home country or somewhere you have a visa saying you are resident.
I agree with your other posters that Hong Kong is better in your situation. |

I am 99.99999999 (etc) per cent sure you have to go home for a visa My friend was on vacation here, and just got a job She must go home
Another friend is in another country and she got a job also and also had to go home for the visa.
If you got an offer ask them to call the embassy for you
Good luck
Universities like to hire couples because it will save them an apartment it is really late to get a job for September because of all the paper work
Try Korea, it is way easier to get quick jobs there |

Well I though all was going well with a recruiter until she told me to come over and work on a tourist visa while the school works out the zvisa stuff and just to fly to Hong Kong to get it switched.
I'm really glad you guys post so much information on this site. If not, I would be on my way to what I'm sure would be a nightmare.
Moving on, keep an eye out and if you know of any openings let me know. In the meantime I am emailing Universities around some cities I know a little bit about. |

Warning! Do not listen to anyone, you can not get the visa hanged in Hong Kong
Really, try Korea Visa is easier to get But you need a criminal check
Go home, apply to schools from there
I do not mean to put a damper in your quest, just I am stating facts as I know them |

Yes, it is Korea, BUT:
Universities in China Usually do not hire you unless you have 2 years teaching experience, and they prefer university teaching experience
Jobs teaching in Korea are not very hard to get
Couples with MBA's have an easy chance to get university jobs in Korea
Get experience in Korea
Apply for China
Go home after 2 years for vacation
Apply to jobs in China
Find a job and come here
To me this sounds like a good idea. |
