Unfortunately I read the post after I had returned from WECL. To the original OP, Bill was still there over the summer months of 2013, but was told his age prohibited him from staying.
Reading the post, I knew it could have been written by me. Being told I need to spend an hour prep for each hour of teaching, plus the English corners, plus the school functions....That was more than a 40 hour week.
I too paid for overage of utilities and had the worst dial up internet connection.
But I believe I can top yours. Seems without a reference from them, I can't get another post in China. Thought about omitting them from my resume, but figure it would catch up to me. |

I left a WECL contract early, and was still able to get the release letter for my next job.
It was nightmarish teaching lazy, sullen, rude 'fuerdai' from Jinjiang, Quanzhou and Shishi.
Much better job now. |

I take it a release letter is necessary? Is this the requirement of the hiring institution or government? I had never been asked for it by previous employers.
I took the position at WECL with low pay and partial utilities paid because of the location. I didn't get a chance to see or do anything and I didn't appreciate getting calls on my off time on my dime.
Yes, I'm sure there is something better. |

My uni (top uni in Xiamen) required it.
I was surprised I got it from WECL, because although we didn't part on bad terms I did break contract.
So, they're not all bad. |
