Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) is probably the union with the most EFL teachers in Spain, Euskadi may be different.
You can join it at www.ccoo.es, click on afiliate and then follow the instructions. It costs something like 30 Euros a quarter (though you can claim some of that back in your tax declaration)
Joining should give you access to free legal advice and help in setting up a comité de empresa (works council) if your school has enough workers, or choosing delegados if not.
I believe the anarchist union (CNT) will give you free legal advice even if you are not a member.
An important document private sector EFL teachers should look at is the sector agreement called the convenio de enseñanza no reglada which outlines the minimum terms and conditions you should have as an employee (but not as a freelance). |
