Hi,
I have thought about applying for jobs at these places. Are they deccent places in which to work and is the housing good-quality? Asemlink promises a free, excellent flat. The Owner says he lived in Australia but seemed pretty dodgy in my phone interview with him. Andy is his name. |

Don't know about the schools, ask to speak to another teacher there or offer to go down for a day or 2. I've been to both Vinh and Ha Tinh, and wouldn't teach there unless the money was huge. Ha Tinh is a tiny place, I spent 3 days there and was bored out of my mind.... makes Hanoi seem like Tokyo or Shanghai.
Can you tell us what they are offering? |

Andy at Asemlink in Vinh City promised a very nice flat with all of the modern appliances of a Western one. A work permit, insurance, and paid vacation were part of the deal. A man who fell for this spiel found out on his first day that he had been had was going to be living with Any Pham's family in a shared room with a 41 year old male from Manila. Sharing the same bed, I should add... And Andy was extremely cruel (locking him out of the house in the pouring rain several times and not paying him on time nor feeding him any of the promised 3 daily meals) and verball abusive to all of the staff. Buddy quit after being tricked into helping Pham's gangster-looking buddies film a movie at a resort East of Vinh for 3.5 hours for 500,000 VND (supposed to have been 3.5 million). The film will be on nationwide TV in October. Oh, and Pham tried to attack this middle-aged man and then lied to the police about what really went down. He then blacklisted him in Vinh City and in Hanoi. |
