BGS (Bachelor of General Studies) with concentration in TESL, TESL certificate from the university (TESL Canada Level 2).
I wish I did the BEd instead. I am planning on doing my MA in Teaching (TESL) with public certification next year. |

I wasn't sure if I should answer since I'm not teaching abroad right now, but I have in the past and hope to again after I finish my degree.
Have: B.A. in International Studies
In Progress: Master of Arts in Teaching: Elementary Teaching
I would have liked to do the TESOL degree but I figured I can teach abroad with a teaching degree but I can't get an elementary teaching job in the U.S. with a TESOL degree, so this route gives me more options for the future. |

You could add an ESL endorsement to your elementary teaching certificate (or your state's equivalent of an ESL endorsement). The question, though, is whether you want to teach English to speakers of other languages or teach other subjects in a school overseas (e.g. at an international school). |

Cert in emergency management. This should be a prerequisite to teach abroad...or maybe disaster management. Heh. |

BA Psych, MA TESL. Thinking about a PhD but not sure I can justify the time and expense. At my age, I'm not sure I can recoup my investment. |
