So I quit my job with proper notice, letter of release, etc on a specialist in humanities visa.
Am I required to inform immigration if I don't start another job immediately and/or only work part time for a while?
I did a search and some suggested it's better to keep quiet, while some say the opposite. |

| The work visa is yours. You're not changing address, and you are self-supporting, right? Why does immigration need to know? |

If you are changing addresses, then you need to notify the relevant authorities. That used to mean your local town/city/ward office (and police station for drivers licenses), but I'm not sure if that's changed with the new immigration laws in the last couple years. In any case, it won't have anything to do with you having or not having a job. |

I guess the answer is don't notify. Is everyone sure? Lol. I asked one of my students who works in immigration and he says I should.
Last question: how would health insurance work when you're working part-time? |

I'm sure you could inform immigration and they'd love to know about it so they can have a reason to kick you out, but it's definitely not necessary, especially if you have other part-time work. There would be absolutely no benefit in letting them know, and would likely just cause you grief.
For health insurance, go to your ward/city/town office and get put on public health insurance. |
