To any english lecturers currently employed with PNU. I´ve apparently been accepted for a position at PNU but I haven´t seen any acceptance letter directly from the university. is this normal? My dealings have been with SBC but an employment letter was sent from Almadina Educational....(?) Ring a bell anyone? The initial recruiter was called Amber who is now totally not available to communicate with me. (Any ideas...???) A business visa is being arranged as I do not live in my country of birth - I´ve read that this is problematic even though the recruiter assured me all will be well and an iquama will be arranged for me. Does anyone have an email and or telephone number to PNU which I can use to make direct enquiries? There are mixed reviews on SBC which is the sound one? What is the basic starting salary - or at least the range? I´m not sure I feel very satisfied with recruitment dealings so glad if you can help me out - Thank you |

I'm not at PNU but am familiar with SBC from friends of mine employed by them. SBC is the employer---the entity that will pay you, house you, etc., which is why you won't receive a letter from PNU. Apparently, SBC is affiliated with Almadina (see http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=103310 ).

Since PNU is not the employer, you should direct your visa questions back to the recruiter or the contact person you're to return the employment contract to. In the meantime, check the threads about PNU; there's likely to be another poster working for SBC who's had experience with entering the country on a biz visa (not the best scenario). And yes, SBC is a mixed bag.
As for salary, that question was answered on one of your other threads. But again, it generally depends on your nationality (passport), if you're a native or non-native speaker, your degree major and level, years of experience and type of teaching situations, and teaching qualification (if you have an acceptable TEFL cert). The salary SBC offered you was based on those factors. Can you get more? Who knows since you haven't stated what your specific qualifications are. However, trying to negotiate a higher salary with a contracting company is usually pointless.
If you're not thrilled with the deal SBC is offering, then look elsewhere; there are plenty of other job opportunities available. |

Some of these companies have used business visas to get people into KSA easily and inexpensively. Business visas are not legal for employment in KSA. There is currently an amnesty underway in KSA which will last until Nov. 3 after which illegal workers have to leave the country or face penalties. What this means for Teachers I have no idea. If you come on a business visa be prepared before hand with an airplane ticket to leave suddenly before Nov. 3.

In order to get a 90 day employment visa leading to an Iqama you have to go through the rigmarole in your home country. They are not telling you the truth. |

PM....
Why should the employee be prepared to get a return ticket? This is down to the employer and is not the employee's problem!
Practically everyone going through SBC have been told that they are now going on the 90 day visa and the Iqama procedure will take place (at the employers expense) after the Haj is finished in October. |
