| Believe it or not, but there is even happoshu in Germany, and I found a Belgian happoshu in Tokyo for just 120 yen. Needless to say, it was pretty weak. |

Happoshu is just if you want to save money.
I do think it has fewer calories. |
Gives me insane hangovers. I can have like 3-4 and be ruined the next day. The ingredients are pretty bad.
Imagine if there we las no happosbu? And all the effort used to make lousy ingredients drinkable were invested into real beer? |
It's all about the taxes. The synthetic ingredients in happoushu are relatively expensive so, if it weren't for the high tax on beer, there'd be no point in making happoushu because real beer would be cheaper and would taste better.
(At least that's what I read somewhere in an article about brewing in Japan.) |

Oh that makes sense. That is dumb though. They let people drink garbage, as it is a technicality when it comes to taxes. How awful |

I stopped drinking happoshu years ago. First, I was interested in it and thought how great it was that it was so much cheaper. But then I relaized I was paying a huge price in feeling crappy the next day. some of the worst hangovers I've ever had were from drinking happoshu. The stuff is awful. I haven't touched it in years. Terrible stuff. |

| Oh yeah worst hangover by far. 3-4 will ruin me for an entire day. And I won't even be drunk at all. Just not worth it. While in Japan I stick to actual beer or sake |

| For home drinking, I don't bother with beer/happoshu/daisan. Foreign wine and liquor is cheap and plentiful. |
