|
|
Here's a bit of an odd question I wonder if anyone can help me with. I applied for Permanent Residence recently, but my marriage kind of went south so to speak. I qualify to apply for PR in part because I am married to a Japanese woman.
So this is my question. How long after I get my PR should I wait before I get a divorce? Any thoughts?
Thanks! |

I guess you should wait until you get PR first.
Once you have it, get divorced.
If you got divorced while waiting for PR, it could be a problem. |

Sorry to hear things are rough. To my knowledge, once you get your permanent residency, it's yours and you can't lose it unless you commit a felony or are out of Japan for more than "x" amount time (one year?) without a re-entry permit. Grin and bear it, be nice until it comes through. Good luck. Hope things turn out for the best. |
