A guy I know vaguely works for them. He says advantages: very flexible, he gets as many classes as he wants, when he wants them, they pay him on time, every time, fairly well organised. Disadvantages: they shift classes around a lot, so you might not have a stable timetable (but if you knock a class back they don't mind, just call someone else) and won't build up much of a relationship with one group of students.

My reply won't be too helpful as I know little.
They do have at least one branch in the Friendship Hotel or nearby. If you have seen their website, the tall building in the pic is called the Cyber Tower (ShuMa DaSha) and is in an area that I like because it's convenient for shopping for food and household items and there are several universities around. A down side would be it's a bit of a hike to the major bar areas. Also, the website listed 4000 per month salary. That's passable but not very good in Beijing. People who accept that depress wages for all of us.
The school seems to be known. A waitress at a pizza place once asked me if I was a teacher for them. As well, they have ads placed all over, on the street, bus stops, and in subway cars. The one in the subway was a bit comical. Basically, it showed pictures of teachers in the classroom by the podium. Under each pic were their names. What was funny were the few fat, bearded guys with names such as Patricia, Alice, and Jane. One girl was Bob or something. Obviously, they couldn't trust their native-speaking teachers to proofread the advertisement before printing it. That alone could tell you something. |
