Yes, they've been doing 3 -year contracts. And one-year. My friend worked something out for a 5- year contract.
This is Arabia. |

I assume you mean "this is the UAE."
You never mentioned which division or department you work in at UAEU----the one that you say accepts BA degree holders over teachers with a relevant MA. Is your two-year contract with the Continuing Education Center or UAE University's foundation program? I noticed on the China forum that you recently stated that you earn $2500 a month for 80 hours of work, which sounds like part-time work. |

That is definitely not an UGRU or faculty post. Both make substantially more than that for fewer hours. |

Sorry, I meant for fewer teaching hours...actual overall hours are higher than that. My bad. |

Which is why I asked where this teaching position was because Aummua not only previously stated, "I only have a BA. I work at UAEU in Al Ain. Just signed my second two-year contract," but also, "...if a school is in need, they will take your BA and certificate and pay you handsomely." I doubt a monthly salary of $2500 for 80 hours of work fits anyone's definition of an attractive salary, especially considering the UAE's cost of living. |

No, I meant this is Arabia. There are no standards (t)here.
I'm actually in the middle of three jobs. After Saudi I worked two years in Al Ain (neither program you mentioned sounds familiar) and in August I signed another contract to begin in December. But then I found the salaries in China have gone up considerably, so I signed up there. I may not go back to Al Ain.
Then I just got an interview with Aramco. If the salary there is as high as I've heard, then it's back to Saudi.
My point is that you don't need a MA to make bank in the TESOL world. |
