Hi
Do language institutes usually pay cash in hand or directly to your bank account?
And if so, is it difficult to open a Spanish bank account? I was just hoping to turn up with my passport, but are residence permits required?
I am an EU citizen
Thanks |

Well, I think you should get your salary paid into a bank account, but some academias can't or more accurately won't- do this. So you would then get cash in hand.
Last year, I taught at the British Centre in Melilla. a Spanish city on the African coast. I am not going to recommend the school, because I had difficulties, when I was there. But the really great thing is that they paid better than some schools, they paid on time, into an account, they paid social security contributions, and they gave me a contract from day one. Spanish language schools might not do any of this, but some will. You need to be somewhat hardheaded. You may have to work at 2 schools or supplement your income with private classes, because at some point there will be some cancelled classes. |
