Oh dear... if posters are that easily offended, then perhaps getting a Russian visa will be the least of their problems regarding the full-on Russian experience. A re-think re the whole entreprise may be in order...
Let's all take a deep breath. |

I challenged your ignorant and offensive opinion that those women were whores. If you don't like attractive women or vodka then Russia certainly isn't the place for you.
You asked for advice and advice has been given. Is that on topic enough for you?
@amisexy;
Regarding a ticket; I guess that it may depend on your nationality, but as a Brit, I didn't need to show anyone my flight. I just bought a single and it was fine. |

I bought a return (from UK) because it was actually cheaper than a single... |

I was lucky that easyjet had just opened their new route from London to Moscow and I managed to get my ticket for £60. Hell, the visa cost more! |

Now, that we have all taken a deep breath, I'd like to post my deconstructionist comments on said video.
The translated subtitles are misleading, and this changes the whole tenor of the clip. The dour beardy-weirdy chap doesn't say "Vodka Kresova: my Russian comrade." He says " Vodka Kresova: my Russian girlfriend." Thus, we can see that all these fillies lounging or frolicking around are not really there - they only exist in his vodka-fired imagination, as is emphasised by the closing shot where the camera moves around the bottle to reveal the girls to us, and show that they can only been seen through its 'filter', as it were. All the male's previous lack of response to their loving touches is now explained. As is his very survival in the wilderness that he was actually truthfully describing : ) All very 'Sixth Sense'.
What has this to do with the opening post? Applying for a Russian visa, any visa, is going to involve an inordinate amount of mistranslations, misunderstandings, and just plain mistakes. And that's just the visa application. As for what comes next! The best thing that can be done is to just try to accept this cultural ambiguity, and go with the flow.
We all need a secret of survival, as this advert shows, whatever that secret may be. Vodka works for me, as does carousing. But each to their own. Dialectical materialism is a good option too, to get you through the cold winters : ) |
