Hi all,

I am sort of kind of MAYBE entertaining the possibility of applying for the PNET scheme in Hong Kong in the next year or two. I have 9 years experience teaching in China (including one of those Chinese "international schools"), CELTA, MA, no teaching qualification. I'll give it a shot anyway and see if they'll accept me. I wouldn't mind a change sometime in the future.

Problem is the criminal check. Being here in China for awhile I guess it would be easy just to go in and ask the police about getting something on paper (I have no record), but who do I go to in Australia? And can I do this from China, as I guess the Ministry of Education would need this at the beginning of the application and not at the end (I only go home during summer holidays).

I'm sure everything else would be fine, but perhaps I shouldn't even bother trying because of this hurdle?

Haven't been in the NET scheme, so I don't know exactly when they want to see what, but I do know that Australians only need to apply to the Federal Police for the CNCC.

Yeah, I'm an Aussie.

It's years since I had an AFP check done, but it was certainly from out of country (from Macau, I seem to remember). Can't remember exactly how I did it, but I suspect it involved googling the AFP then following some links. It certainly wasn't difficult, or it would have been seared on my memory.
