| I just recently moved here and am applying for my long term visa. any advice anyone would like to give me, as this is my first time in the country? |

Ah, that's bad news. I am quite sure that no bank or credit agency will make you a loan; banking here is very tightly regulated.
Actually, the school should do this for you, if it's a requirement to get the visa you need to do the job they hired you to do.
It isn't very common here for a school to hire someone sight-unseen from abroad; it can sometimes be a signal of a shady (or in this case perhaps simply uninformed) operation. The vast majority of jobs in the country are got via in-person interviews. You might consider coming to Prague and hitting the sidewalks in search of a potential employer who will help you organize a zivnotensky list. It is hiring period, though the clock is ticking fast. |

hello. thank you for your response. i am not ruling out finding another school if i must, but what is a zivnotensky list? (i really am clueless, aren't i? i thought i did my homework before coming over but it seems i'm in the thick of it now.) [edit: trade license? i have it now.]
what i have so far:
health insurance
trade license
social security (or some such thing)
passport

I am not the best person to answer the technical questions (I do not work for a language school or training centre and have permanent residency here so have not gone through the processes in the past decade).

got it sorted, i think! just took some resource pooling from back home...would have been easier before i got here but at least it looks like i'm back on track!  |
