Your contract has not been renewed at this point. The school is either trying to simply save money by not giving you the raise when you signed the revised contract or they are trying to save money and have no intention of keeping you when your contract expires.

Either way...you'll likely come across as a whiner and troublemaker if you start making waves about this now. I'd certainly be looking for a new gig.

If you stay at this school or go to another during the winter....I'd suggest you ask for an initial 6 month contract just so you are in a better position later. If any school does not renew your contract it would be at a less than ideal time for finding a new job as it stands right now.

This may be the best advice so far.

Agree with muffintop - I posted in your last thread about the teaching problems and complaints you had. They are pretty much telling you to look for another job next time I think, and will probably expect you to find something else rather than seek a renewal.

Does your winter to winter (good way of putting it) contract involve being paid for July and August?

That's another 9 grand (give or take) you are getting that the 'summer to summer' (Sept to June), FTs may not be getting.

No, that's not an issue. Everyone gets summer pay, and if we work at all in the summer, it's considered overtime.

well, in that case, i think johnnyP got it right in the very first response.
you have a valid contract that runs until february. it would have been
nice had the management bumped your salary, but they didn't.

the pay was good enough last month, so should still be acceptable despite
others making more. get through this semester........when/if you resign,
you'll also get the bump. but you must also use your negotiation fengshui!

you've been there longer, you didn't get the raise at the same time, you've
been a good employee. your new contract should have the bump, but
you also want a raise in addition to that, since you're the senior FT.

or you could start looking for a new job for the spring semester.

To put the situation in a bit of context OP should be aware that the Chinese like their 'gotcha' moments.
In a Western setting management might say that in the interests of goodwill/staff harmony etc they will adjust all base rates even when some contracts have a few months to run.
'We can get away with it so we will' is what guides the Chinese.
In addition they will do it bare faced and without any sense that there could be an alternative view.
