Let me comment on trapezius question as to why I choose to teach the Jazan University in jazan city? Because on the one hand, I don’t like to live in big cities due to traffic jams. Plus, I had relatives in Jazan city, who love the city so much and they made me believe that the Jazan city is the best city in KSA. They convinced me that Jazan city has nice beaches, islands and good restaurants that serve sea food and MARSA (sweet Yemeni desert). Perhaps Jazan city has a lot to offer BUT the problem I had has to do with the Jazan University NOT the Jazan city itself. On the other hand, I had a personal attachment to the city because my mother has a Yemeni blood and she is rooted to that city before it became part of Saudi.
Besides, there are good hardworking, peace loving Muslim American or Canadian who practice freely their religion in their countries. And I knew that from the start. Though, we have a religion freedom in this part of world, Canada and America is not considered Islamic states like KSA. So your assumption of Canada and America being Islamic countries far better than the actual Islamic states like KSA is inaccurate. KSA is an Islamic state BUT people I interacted with during my séjour at Jazan University did not have good Islamic conduct.
In a nutshell, I have stayed for that long period of time in Jazan city because I wanted to increase my Islamic knowledge of being in Islamic environment and conservative societies. I’m not saying by any form or shape that Canada and America are all liberal societies- BUT the point is they are NOT considered as Islamic countries though they are many Muslims including myself who were born/raised these countries. Hope that clears out your presumption on Canada and America being an Islamic states! They’re NOT |

Thank God for that
And many thanks for sharing the info! That's just what this site needs - more clarity. |

I would say that you didn't understand what Trapezius was saying here. He did not say that either of them are "Islamic States." What he was saying was that KSA calls itself an Islamic State, but doesn't truly conform to many Muslim's definition of that term... and in his opinion, the two countries seem to follow more Islamic rules in their treatment of people than KSA.
That is a debatable topic that probably isn't appropriate here. Over the years, we have had many Muslim teachers pass through here who were very disillusioned with their treatment in KSA especially in relation to exactly this topic.
VS
(BTW... "Be Aware" does not mean the same thing as "Beware") |
