Whats it like to work at? Is it a an ok or a good job, or do most people have occupational depression?
How would it compare with the HCT in the UAE? |

I like the work a lot here at KFUPM. I can't speak for classes "on the jebel", but the Prep Year classroom experience has been good, since most of the students are bright, capable and excited to be here. The management, like everything in Saudi, is a bit of a mess. This is because they won't pay directors more than the teachers, so it is essentially a volunteer position. We are all victims of the Ministry of Education, and they have decided to increase student enrollment, so current class size is about 25 students per teacher. Housing for single men is not good, but family housing looks decent. Saudi life is boring, but there are overtime opportunities to fill your time. |

So, if it is a volunteer position and no extra pay for it, then it is better not to volunteer for such position.
I guess if the director is a Saudi, he will be paid for it?
BTW, I know some teachers/lecturers are paid better than non-Saudi directors of units or head of departments! |
