They've send me some offers, which seem to be serious.
But the salary is not good (5500 RMB per month).
As they tell Helengroup is a partner of several unis and schools.
I would stop cooperating with them if I did not see their detailed offers and their insistence.
What can you say about them?

Oh dear.

Search around for Hangzhou Helen...she goes by many other names too I think.

Most of it is ugly.

I'm confident OP is not a native speaker. As such, unless he's 25 and a male model, he's not going to have many opportunities at a good uni gig. At least not to start out.

I'm still a newbie, but nearly every job posting I've seen specifically wants USA, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand nationalities. Even Ireland is often left out.

Helengroup (Hangzhou Helen) has a very bad reputation.
A search on this forum of "hangzhou helen" will give you 38 threads of negative opinions.
Work for them only if you enjoy being raped and pillaged.

Hangzhou Helen is a legend. In fact last year I was at one of those Job fairs for Foreigners at Shanghai and the Helen group was there. I was tempted to go up and ask if the woman herself was there. After all, once you've seen the waxworks of Lenin, Mao and Ho Chi Minh, how many more opportunities do you get to see evil in the flesh.

However, I didn't quite know how to re-word my above reason for introducing myself.

Being serious, I really would have liked to have found a reason to have a chat with her about recruiters and foreign teachers. I'm sure there's two sides to every story, even with her, and her notoriety does suggest that even if she screws foreign teachers over, at least she's become very good at it. Also, most of the teachers that apply to our Uni find out about us through her website which is (I think) completely free to advertise on, and is probably one of the best places for prospective teachers to find potential employers without needing to actually use or pay for HH's services.

I came across that website quite randomly 9 years ago and found my first job thru it, without any interaction with the infamous Helen, all free. It seemed a good service. Only after spending some time in China did I learn of her heinous reputation.

This Helen Group appears to be blacklisted by the CFTU and quite a few other places as well. The Hangzhou location is the most notorious from what I see. Check for yourself at http://www.chinaforeignteachersunion.org/2012/12/china-foreign-teachers-union-posts-esl.html

TOPS in China. Don't dilly daddle because Helen is selective and only the best get to work for her.

Is Helen Group the same as "Hangzhou Helen"? Has anyone had good experiences with other Helen Group recruiters? A friend recommended to me a recruiter that was part of Helen Group, and this person said that they had a great experience with the recruiter. I emailed him and he seemed professional and friendly.

Why are you using a recruiter? it's a serious question.
