Offers 4000RBM for 18 hours in Beijing, and a 8 hours MAX overtime at 50RMB... and they have the "balls" to send me this:
Congratulations! The Suzhou Municipal Education Bureau-training Sites has much pleasure in extending to you a warm invitation to join their teaching faculty for the next school year, starting 10 September 2004.
This is a very serious and genuine offer of a teaching appointment with a China Central Government [SAFEA] Approved . Your appointment has been authorized by FAO.
We would be very appreciative if you could examine the attached Appendix, and if the terms and conditions are suitable, please sign at the bottom of the last page, return it to CTTR by fax or as a scanned copy. Whereupon, we will provide you with all other information required for travel to China.
Please note, if the appointment is not suited to you for any reason, please let CTTR know immediately and we will advise the FAO, otherwise the offer is open for three days. We look forward to confirming your appointment.
Again, our congratulations,
Kind regards,
Mrs Qiu Feng

They did not explain the students age, school(s) location(s), but they prcised that no weekend are available, days-off will be during the week. I told them to contact: The Great Wall of Whiner, as he has a great roster ready for them |

I have for the past 8 months been bragging about how great this CTTR agency is, however after looking at their website today I feel as though I should share some of the info I found.

TOTAL SCORE =_____
How to evaluate your points score
You may qualify to be appointed to a position as Teacher of English with a Central Government Approved Education Institution in China according to the following table. Please note, all appointments are subject to vacancies.
Sorry, but you do not qualify as an English teacher in China. -85pts
Very limited number of positions exists in a few schools. 86pts+
Elementary/ Junior Secondary/ Vocational College teacher. 100pts+
Senior Secondary/ Tertiary College teacher. 120Pts+
University teacher / tutor. 150Pts+
University Lecturer. 200Pts+ |
Plus it goes to say that if your score is under 100 then you must do as follows:
Quote: |
Due the extremely limited number of positions open to persons applying with a points score of less than 100 but more than 85, such applicants must remit $US 100:00 [One hundred United States dollars] Application Fee with application form [See Advisory 0040520], and subject to vacancies, will receive only one job offer. Sorry, no fee, no service. Fee is only reimbursed on completion of contract. |
Now this seems like a load of cr*p to me, who wants to pay to get placed in a school that they have no choice over???? I wonder if this agency is the only one using this score sheet or whether other schools are too.

Do you mean to say that all schools will use this score sheet? |

Maybe they are taking the piss. If it is true, no one will be willing to work for such low wages . Foreigners can teach anywhere. They do not have to stay in China. I still think they should regulate their own teachers more. They could price themselves out of the market all together. |
