|
|
Now that the criminal background checks are in effect the CFTU and SAFEA confirm there are now over 7,100 fewer foreign teachers working in China this year than last. http://open.salon.com/blog/china_business_central/2013/09/11/cftu_reports_18_drop_in_esl_china_foreign_teachers_in_2013
So now we all have good reasons to ask for pay raises since there are far less of us to go around. I know this is an issue that really worries the admin people at my school so I am sure the concern is contagious. Time to take advantage in my opinion - strike while the iron is hot. I think we all have grounds to be demanding an extra 2,000 per month at the very least - especially those of us with education degrees and/or real teaching experience. |

Hey friend, can you provide the reference for the SAFEA confirmation? I don't see anything in the open-to-anybody web posting site above. Perhaps something on the SAFEA website? Thanks in advance! |

Four misspellings and four grammatical errors in the article (at first glance; I'm sure an in-depth read would yield more). Difficult to afford them any credibility.

That would be nice, even though SAFEA is little more than an advertisement to make foreign teachers think we have some rights here. |

So basically by SAEFA confirmation, you mean that someone you met once who said they worked for SEAFA hasn't got in touch with you to dispute a manufactured news story they don't know exists. |

No my friend. That is not what I said. I said I am sending her an email with the link tonight and asking her to confirm the census results. If she still works there I think she will respond. If I don't hear back from her in a day or two I will call there and ask for her. IF I hear back from here I will post something accordingly.
BTW... do you really doubt loads of teachers have been leaving China? |

Getting one person from SAEFA to confirm a story means absolutely nothing.
Yes, I truly doubt that anybody, including SAEFA, knows how many foreign teachers there are in this country. I have no idea if there are less teachers. Does china have a census office? If not, what exactly can they go on; tax records? Virtually none of us are paying taxes. Job vacancies aren't logged centrally. How could anyone know?
I suppose that if SAEFA or someone kept track locally of how many invitation letters they're generating for foreign teachers, that would work, but only if there's an occupation code that they input when generating them, and it goes on to a central database. If this is the case, give us the raw data, or at the very least a member of the Chinese central government giving the figures to a Chinese government controlled media outlet. Of course even then we couldn't trust the figures, but we could trust them a lot more than we can trust you.
Explain to us how you get your figures. What is your sample size, and how do you ensure a representative sample? |

Perhaps they counted teachers in mid-September one year and in mid-August the next year and wow, suddenly there are less of us. |

Ask the CFTU and SAFEA, they are the ones that keep figures. I only quoted the above link. You guys always want to nit pick, spell-check, bash, or split hairs, rather than talk about the comments or ideas of the OP. Is this news not a good reason to be asking for pay raises? When was the last time you got a raise, how much was it, and how much are YOU earning now? Why not answer these 3 simple questions before attacking the messenger yet again so we can have a meaningful dialogue here. I am always for making more money than less. Aren't you? If you disagree, no problem - just explain why you disagree. |

When it comes to making more money I don't think we should be splitting hairs fellas. |
Splitting hairs? Are you serious? NONE of the data or info you and the other socks post here has been verifiable. Not once. That's not splitting hairs pal, it's calling you out.
You and the other socks been called out here repeatedly and (WHAT A SHOCK) you never address the issues people raise with your links/data/info.
Nothing you post is credible or verifiable.
If you told me water was wet I would not believe you. This is how little credibility you and the other socks have.
Splitting hairs.
Too funny.
P.S.
To any person ignorant enough to believe the garbage they link all the time....please post what happens when you ask your boss for a 2,000RMB/month raise and use the CFTU 'data' to support your argument.
EDIT:
I have to correct myself. I had said that...

...but I was incorrect.
They have made a few....oh so few... links to reputable sources of information. So I must change my statement to accurately reflect the reality. My apologies to CUFU and all related sockpuppets for my previous statement which was not entirely accurate.

Almost everything you post or link to is not credible and/or not verifiable. This recent post being no exception. The few times you link to reliable and verifiable information, which of course it's not on your own website(s), it is completely and undeniably unrelated to the actual topic and about as meaningful as a fart in the wind |
I thought this was only fair. Sometimes I make mistakes.

hmmm.....so what you're saying is.....that if i follow the alleged union's
so-called advice, i'll be replaced with an even lower-paid non-native
engrish speakr?
in that case, i suspect these CFSU sockpuppies are collaborating with
evil, greedy recruiters to drive down teacher salaries and pocket even
more of their ill-gotten booty. |

When was the last time you got a raise |
September 2013. I've been here since February '13 and have had two raises since I arrived. I also got a raise when I first applied for this position (the employer raised the base pay when he saw how much experience I had).
I don't need these "facts" and figures to tell me how much I'm worth. Nobody does, primarily because they don't mean anything.
