|
|
I went to the Cambridge English page to find out where I could go to get a CELTA course & certificate. The site had me going in circles. *frustration ensued*
So, for those who did get their CELTA certificate, where did you get it? Links appreciated. I might just be having a bad day on Google.
I checked for schools in the U.S. that offered the course, but I practically live out in the middle of nowhere. Plus, the course costs about $3,000. I heard that it's cheaper in other countries, but I'm not sure where to go to find that info. I just want to get an idea so I can plan out whether to take it in the states or in a foreign country. |

Take it in the country you are planning to work in. |

Yes. Assuming you are from the US, that leaves out Western Europe, but most anywhere else is on the table.
Taking the course in the country where you want to start teaching is helpful in many ways. The course provider usually helps with logistics like airport pickup and housing during the course and local orientation. Your practice teaching students will be representative of those you'll work with when you start, and your fellow trainees can form your first social contacts. Training centres can also provide invaluable info regarding reputable local employers. |

They had a very clear, easy to use, intuitive site until a few months ago when they "improved" it. Now it is annoying, frustrating, and takes much longer to find things. The site was SO much easier to navigate before they changed it. Still, this is where you will find the comprehensive list of CELTA providers. You need to get to the "Find a Teaching Qualification Centre" search page. For "Location" choose "All locations." For "Exam" choose CELTA. The search should then give you a list of 322 centres that offer CELTA courses with links directly to the providers' websites.
