Ni hao, hope you're having grand TEFL adventures out there and learning lots. Smile

I'm looking for a good place to connect with private students in China. I'm wondering if there's a China version of Craigslist--a site where most people in the country would go to look for a private English tutor? Or would they just use Craigslist for that?

Thank you so much! Very Happy I really appreciate your help and time!

Apologies if I didn't communicate my intentions clearly. I am looking to connect with private EFL students seeking to 1 to 1 English lessons in China and am looking for websites Chinese people might go to to connect with an English language teacher. I'm not pursuing anything illegal on this forum. If you know of any good websites, I would really appreciate them. Thank you so much.

To begin with, Craigslist isn't all that popular. They have their own versions of CL, Amazon, Ebay, and other social media sites.
I'm not sure why others would think your activities are deemed illegal. As long as your employer and contract permits teaching privates, there should be no problems drumming up business on the side through other websites. Many people do it.
Either way, the seasoned teachers will know more than I do.

Really? Craigslist? Why not just say you are looking for prostitutes?

Or just another illegal activity, such as privates.

Amazing the forum tolerates blatant admission of illegal activity - violation of immigration, visa, residence laws.

The discussion of anything which one individual may deem inappropriate is not "illegal".

OP asked the same thing in European and Middle East forms as well, so it's hard to say what he's looking for.

If it's online teaching, you might have got better replies if you had been clear about this. There are companies that specialise in this but I don't know anything about them.

I asked a similar question a few weeks ago, to no avail. I've hired a translator and am about to advertise on 58.com and Ganji.com for teaching oral English, I'll post back here to tell everyone if it works.

It's easy to get privates where you must TEACH, but I'm looking for more oral English classes, where we can just talk and I can critique their grammar and give them vocabulary an actual native speaker would use. Less work and same pay Wink

Back to the OPs question. I think the best way to get privates is to network. Get out there and talk to people. Other foreigners to start - I am often asked to do privates and I seldom do so I pass numbers over to friends that I think would be a good and safe fit.
