Konbanwa Tovarish! Very Happy

I am in Jpaan which is not backwards at all because the trains are great. Wink

I used to think the Japense style toilet was literally backwards but these days the toilets are very advanced with heated seats and B-days. Very Happy

Stay cool!

Cool

You really don't think that Russia is backward? Smile I can't think of a more retrograde country! Where else in the world do you slowly euthanize your elderly with cheap over-the-counter phenobarbital and potassium bromide combos?

Don't know what you mean? Have you been subjected to Piggie porpaganda recently? All the signs are there.

Here in the Motherland, the elderly do not have to have expensive private healthcare, nor fight nasty battles with private insurance companies. Neither do they have to worry about their grandchildren getting shot in high school.

The elderly play a full role in society here, and are rarely shunted off into a retirement home. None of their kids would dare! Nobody, from the police to the criminal elements, dares mess with them. Euthanising them? Ha ha! Love to see you try...

Dear respected RoscoeTX!

This is to inform you that, for continuous counter-revolutionary statements and defaming the name of the Glorious Motherland, the Party has unanimously voted to strip you of your membership, and to deport you from the Motherland as soon as possible. Please have your belongings packed up and ready for shipping out by November at the latest.

With Communist greetings!

Sasha

You've been living in Russia for how long? And you've never heard of valocordin and corvalol? lol Smile High abuse potential coupled with chronic toxicity all in one bottle? You will never fail to find one wherever a senior citizen resides. The West may be decadent and decayed, I'll give you that, but at least substances as deadly as these have been taken off the shelves there a couple of decades ago.

Free healthcare? Eh, I think my grandmother hit the nail on the head when she told me, "if you don't have a doctor in the family or a truckload of cash, don't expect to live a long life in this country." The average life expectancy for a Russian male being what it is, there's sadly more than a grain of truth in her statement. Wink

Nope. Never heard of them. But then I am not a senior, nor have I heart problems. On the other hand, I've never heard of Russian kids being riddled with prescribed drugs at school either.

As for a doctor in the family and a truckload of cash, that sounds like the most benighted industrialised country which cannot even start up a very limited form of healthcare without having to endure government shutdown for a couple of weeks as a result.
