Hi all
A friend of mine is considering taking a job teaching social studies at Dubai Int'l Academy. I guess she's a last-minute replacement for a teacher they lost...
Anyway- she's asking if she can actually take a class at one of the universities there in Human Anatomy and Physiology and have it recognized back in the States for when she returns after her contract. My impulse would be to tell her no, but really- I have no clue. I'm in Oman and have never been to UAE.
Thoughts? Would it be possible for her to do something like that at places like ZU, AUD or AUS? Apparently this is a deciding factor in whether or not she takes that job in Dubai. |

My first instinct is to say no. My suspicion is that the only university that might work is AUS, but I searched the course catalog and didn't see any such course offered.
If this is a requirement for her to go, she should probably turn it down. Getting straight answers to a question like this in order to make a quick decision is very problematic. Presumably there is some college/uni offering medical courses, but that may only be at UAEU. And even if she found a uni that offers the proper accredited course, her employer certainly wouldn't arrange her teaching/work schedule so that she could take a course at any local university.
IMHO she should only take the job if she wants to get the pay and the experience... not in order to add some course to her US studies that is obviously related to a career change.

Didn't take that long... it's a PDF... there seems to be no medical related majors... and the science department courses are just the usual biology, chemistry, physics.
I was curious because I actually took this course in prehistoric times when I was getting my first degree. The prof said that I was the only English major that he ever had in his courses... and I got a higher grade than most of the pre-med students... a fact he used to try to embarrass them.
