Sicklyman
Thank you for your kind advice. It should be clear to anyone reading the Saudi entries on this forum what the answer is to Bajata's inquiry. None so blind as those who choose not to see !
I hope you are enjoying your megasalary in Eastern Province.
As for bringing in dependants without your company's assistance, let me make a suggestion. Take a trip down to the Jawazat and have a look. Dante's "Inferno" has nothing on that. Even with fluency in Arabic and an ability to read and write, you will be TOTALLY out of your depth. |

Sicklyman is telling the truth and dealing in facts.
For anyone looking for helpful information, I suggest that you do the exact opposite, of whatever scot47 types - and you will not go far wrong. |

Here's some advice scot...........
Just because you are incapable of doing something, it doesn't mean that others cannot do it. |

Good luck on that one. I look forward to reading reports frm someone who has successfully processed papers for dependants with no help from their employer.

Done.
Once again scot47, you give out very misleading information. The Jawazat is NOT the place to bring the documents, to process the family visa.
As for reading reports - nah, you'll just have to take my word for it. |

Dear TheFellow,
"The Jawazat is NOT the place to bring the documents, to process the family visa."
If it's not, it certainly used to be. I know that for a fact. So, if it has changed, would you be so kind as to provide the name of the appropriate place in case any posters here need that info?
Regards,
John |

Well done mate. Yes, I second John's request for more detail. Please write as much as you need to so as to ensure others can follow this process if they want to take matters into their own hand.
Also, tell us the timeframe. I believe it was a matter of a few weeks but I might be wrong about that. |

Cheers mate.
After receiving my iqama and getting all of the translations finished, it was just over two weeks, before I had the yellow invitation letter in hand. Actually, once the officials began accepting the documents, I was in and out in less than an hour.
The place to take all of the documents, is called the Istiqdam, in Dammam. |

I was fortunate in that when I took my family I was working for Government Institutions and they did all the legwork for me !
I was never one of those unfortunate fellows forced into working for a contractor who hired out labour power and who had no regard for the dependants !
I look forward to seeing here a list of my errors, transgressions and heresies !
My position is still -
Direct Hire is best
Govt Unis are okay even if they do not pay as much as the Merchants of Death or ARAMCO
Business visas are a Nono. |

Dear scot47,
" I look forward to seeing here a list of my errors, transgressions and heresies !"
I'm afraid that won't be possible due to bandwidth limitations.

Quite a bitter post scott.
What part of - "I was in and out in an hour", did you not understand?
A lot of these poor unfortunate souls working for contractors, are making 8,000-10,000 USD a month. (and other benefits)
Does your heart bleed?

You must excuse me. A very interesting squadron of pigs is just flying overhead.
I look forward to hearing from all those teachers earning SR37,500 a month, plus benefitrs, in KSA.
As for inability to comprehend, I question the reading ability who thinks that"scot47" is the same as "scott" ! |

Once again, you have serious comprehension problems. Is English really your first language?
Just because you were (rightly so) paid peanuts in the Kingdom, it doesn't mean everyone else is a bottom feeder.
Hearing from all those teachers? Expect a flood of emails soon, with scanned employment contracts. Look forward to you writing up the results. |
